Take a private swimming lesson in Geneva

You would like to be reassured and have your child learn to swim or improve his or her swimming techniques (breaststroke, crawl, backstroke, butterfly).

Several options are available to you:

Private or individual lessons
Lessons in a public pool or at your home.
We will detail the advantages and disadvantages of each.

Private swimming lessons for children in Geneva

To progress quickly and see your child at ease in the water, private lessons are the best option as a lifeguard is totally dedicated to you or your child.

The advice and attention is directed towards and for you.

Secondly, the availability of time, the water temperature and the general setting may influence your decision.

Time slots and availability

In public pools

For private lessons in a public pool in the Canton of Geneva, you must first :

Find a pool near your home, or near your children's school or near your workplace.
Rent a water line that is available in your desired time slot
Find a time that suits you and the availability of the coach
Find the coach who is available at the same time as you
Please note that in swimming pools, as there is a strong demand from clubs and associations to obtain water lines, these are generally reserved for groups or collective sessions as they are more profitable.

Private slots are therefore rarer or at times of low attendance (in the morning before 8am or between 2pm and 3pm).

In your pool, at home

Your schedules are our own, i.e. we come at the time agreed together according to your availability and that of your child who often has a busy schedule (school, sports activities, cultural activities, etc.).

Being a team with several lifeguard coaches allows us to be flexible and reactive.

This way we can more easily respond to your request.

Water temperature and hygiene

Public swimming pool

Secondly, the temperature of the water can be an obstacle for your child. For reasons of hygiene, the water temperature should be 25 degrees maximum. While this temperature is ideal for sport swimming and for adults, it is a bit cool for children.

The body cools down 24 times faster in water than on land. Therefore, it is possible that the private swimming lesson will be shortened because your child is cold.

He or she will be more reluctant to attend the next swimming lesson because the previous session ended on a bad note.

On the whole, the water quality in Swiss swimming pools is good and is regularly checked. Nevertheless, hygiene also concerns all the ancillary parts of the pool, i.e. the floor, the showers and the sanitary facilities.

In addition, there are many different people who use the pool during the day (several schools for school swimming, free swimmers, aquagym, swimming clubs, associations, etc.).

All this contributes to the development of chloramines which develop in contact with microbes and bacteria in a humid environment frequented by the public.

In your private pool, at home

For children's classes, the water in your pool should be at least 28 degrees for your child's comfort, so that he or she does not get cold and the session lasts an effective 30 minutes.

Ideally, the water should even be 30 degrees.

The temperature of your pool is therefore a key factor in the learning process and the smooth running of the session.

The right water temperature makes it easier for your child to get into the water and makes it easier for them to return to it, as they have pleasant memories of it.

This comfort allows them to concentrate and feel comfortable with the task at hand. The air temperature is less important than the water temperature.

The water quality is generally better because only you and your family can enjoy your private pool. The volume of water in your pool is also lower than in a public pool. All this contributes to healthier water.

As for hygiene, it is at home, with much less frequentation and a much lower risk of infection.

Time saving, travel time and waiting time

If the duration of a swimming session is 30 minutes whether at home or in a swimming pool, the time it takes you is not the same. The total cumulative time (before, during and after the swimming session) is doubled or even tripled.

Public pool

First of all, you must prepare your child's bag and belongings (goggles, hat, swimming costume, towel) and make sure you don't forget anything because once you get to the pool it will be too late...

Then, you have to go to the pool and count the time of travel.

Once you arrive at the pool you must go to the changing room and dress your child in swimming gear.

During the 30 minutes of the swimming lesson, you must stay at the edge of the pool or in the stand.

Then accompany or not your child to the shower and the changing room, again making sure that you do not forget anything.

In your private pool, at home

First of all, you don't have to think about and prepare your child's swimming gear because everything is already there and probably at the poolside or in the pool house.

Secondly, you save on travel time to and from the pool.

And finally, during the session, you can do whatever you want because you are at home and it is not necessary to attend the session.

In short, everything is comfortable, simpler and easier in terms of organisation.

In conclusion, it is all these little extras that make your child enjoy learning to swim at home.

The conditions at home are ideal in terms of both temperature and setting. Moreover, it saves time and provides unequalled and unbeatable comfort.

You put all the chances on your side, and your child's progress will be faster.

What is the price of a private swimming lesson

In public swimming pools, the price is on average 30 francs for a group swimming lesson.

For individual swimming lessons in a public pool, you should expect to pay an average of 50 francs.

As seen in the previous chapters, it is not always easy to get private lessons in public pools because the water lines are usually rented for group sessions.

For home swimming lessons, your professional coach comes to your home with the necessary equipment. The price is CHF 79 per lesson if you opt for a 10-session package.

Please note that the duration of the lessons is 30 minutes except for adults, in which case it is possible to swim for 45 minutes because thermoregulation is more efficient.

For the children's classes, it is possible to do semi-private classes with a maximum of 3 children. The children must be of a similar level.

It is very interesting and stimulating for the children to do the classes together as they can challenge, guide and help each other. Seeing another child do something that you can't do yourself shows you the way, that it is possible.

General conditions or terms of contract

Duration of the session

The child must be ready in his or her swimming costume at the scheduled time.

The actual time in the water is 30 minutes. If the child is cold and leaves the water before this time, the session is counted.

We stay 40 minutes on site, always arriving five minutes early and leaving five minutes later, the time to assess the session and explain the areas of progress.

Bad weather and delays

The priority will always be the safety and comfort of your child so that the conditions are ideal.

In the event of a storm, the session will be cancelled and rescheduled.

In case of rain at the beginning or during the session, the session is maintained (it doesn't change anything, wet for wet...)

Late arrival:

If you are late, you will not be made up (unless the instructor's schedule allows him/her to stay longer).

longer.

If we are late, we will make up for the delay at the end of the session.

Payments

The subscription must be paid in full by the third session at the latest.

The 10-session package is valid for three months.

If not all sessions have been completed, you can use the remaining sessions for adult personal sports coaching or for children's classes.

The remaining sessions are valid for two months after the end of the initial subscription.

In case of cancellation, you must inform us 24 hours in advance, in which case the session

will be deducted.

If the cancellation is due to a storm, your session is obviously not deducted.
